Kristijan Krajnčan Project: Hidden Myth

Slovenia, Germany, Romania

Kristijan Krajnčan, drums, cello, composition, director; Žigan Krajnčan, Gašper Kunšek, dancers; George Dumitriu, guitar, violin, live electronics; Franz von Chossy, piano; Alex Simu, bass clarinet; Hidden Choir (video); Milan Dekleva, poems, lyrics; Ruben Ostan-Vejrup, visual art

One of Slovenia’s most prolific and incisive younger artists, Kristijan Krajnčan’s numerous awards have earned him an enviable international reputation. First asserting himself as a drummer, Krajnčan has lately also gained recognition as a composer and filmmaker. This is Kristijan’s third appearance at the Ljubljana Jazz Festival (he played with his Quintet and as member of the bands led by pianists Kaja Draksler, and Tarek Yamani), and we’re in for a treat. Namely, the HiddenMyth project extends the grammar of jazz by incorporating improvisation, contemporary dance as envisioned by budding young dancers, choral singing, poetry and film. Showcasing Kristijan’s versatile talent, the Festival’s opening concert is a welcome opportunity to celebrate his huge creative potential.
