Diogo Nogueira & Hamilton de Holanda: Bossa Negra

Brazil

Diogo Nogueira, vocals; Hamilton De Holanda, mandolin; Thiago de Serrinha, percussion; André Vasconcelos, bass

The duo comprising virtuoso mandolin player, Hamilton de Holanda, and the popular samba vocalist, Diogo Nogueira, has been captivating the audiences with Bossa Negra, a project that blends samba, jazz and choro to create an astounding collection of Brazil’s finest new music. The duo’s notable success comes as no surprise, since Hamilton de Holanda is believed to be the greatest master of the 10-string mandolin, enjoying a well-earned reputation and touring worldwide: in 2009, his quartet enchanted the audiences at Ljubljana’s Križanke Theatre. One of the most popular Brazilian singers, Diogo Nogueira is the harbinger of samba as re-imagined by the new generation of artists. Bossa Negra is a subtle retelling of Brazilian traditional music genres with a contemporary spin. An original repertoire rich in harmonic and rhythmic creativity, Bossa Negra rightfully puts the Brazilian jazz and pop back at the forefront of global music.
