BEST SHORT FILM AWARD
Piknik /Picnic
By: Jure Pavlović
In a society that still has to resolve the conflict with its past and that lacks in empathy, the author offers us a glimpse of a brighter tomorrow through the relationship of a father and son, with minimalist and precise direction and outstanding roles of main characters. A beautiful and emotionally rich film that makes the most of its 13 minutes running time and that stayed with us for a long time after the viewing.
SHORT FILM – SPECIAL MENTION 1
Discipline/ Discipline
By: Christophe M. Saber
Technically superior and skillfully directed film that takes us on a satirical rollercoaster, fuelled by xenophobia and political correctness. Through the eyes of a child we are faced with a chaotic world where people coexist amidst different cultural norms. It delivers its message in a light-hearted way, yet it never crosses over to banality. For this we commend it, and we bestow upon it a special mention.
SHORT FILM – SPECIAL MENTION 2
Tant qu'il nous reste des fusils a pompe/ As Long as Shotguns Remain
By: Caroline Poggi, Jonathan Vinel
An elegant and powerful tale of friendship and masculinity. Although occasionally confusing and inconsistent, the film pulls us in an unusual and alienated world in which sounds of a shotgun represent the only escape from solitude. Does the guardian angel show the right path to the main protagonist? To reward the intriguing subtlety of this film, we give it a special mention as well.
