The traditional fancy dress party, titled My Superhero, took place last night in Foyer II of Cankarjev dom, starting at 9pm and continuing until the wee hours. The numerous guests gradually loosened up and let themselves go. Some of the costumes that guests dressed up in were Hägar’s wife Helga, exorcist Lankester Merrin and Elle Driver from Tarantino’s Kill Bill trilogy. Miss Piggy from The Muppet Show explained that she was looking for an excuse to wear a summer dress and the costume party was just the thing. Sandy from Grease surprisingly offered a quotation from one of this year’s films– Van Dormael’s The Brand New Testament, “Life’s a skating rink – somebody always falls.” Penguin from Burton’s Batman was interested in identifying the whereabouts of the booze, and Morpheus from The Matrix wanted to know: “Red pill or blue pill?” Rocky Bilboa revealed that he loved music from his own film, while Harry Potter elaborated, “The world is magical. Soon, the Brave New New Wave will come, featuring films by peers of the director whose film includes music by Andraž Jež.”
Marilyn Monroe enjoyed the disco beats by DJ Semo in the company of her “guy from the 1920s”, while Agatha from Grand Budapest Hotel admitted that she still likes baking, Navajo Joe expressed his belief that Slovenia desperately needs superheroes. Renée from “ a conceptual French film” Joie de vivre confessed that she gets high on the macabre.
