On Saturday, 14 November, the third part of the competitive section of short films was screened. At the Kinodvor Cinema moderator Igor Prassel spoke to Peter Cerovšek and Tom Zidić, who co-wrote and co-directed The Runnertogether with Nataša Čiča. Cerovšek explained that he met Zidić at a film workshop in Ptuj and the two decided to work together. Zidić added that they wanted to make a film that focused on running as a metaphor for freedom. The project changed drastically when they learnt that one of their acquaintances was Mirko Vindiš, marathon runner from Ptuj, and a successful Yugoslav Olympian. The film thus quickly assumed documentary elements, explained Zidić. Vindiš’ personality and zeal helped the crew to overcome the stress and see shooting as a liberating process in the spirit of the overriding theme.
