Simone Rapisarda Casanova, 14. 11. 2015
After the screening of Creation of Meaning on Saturday, 14 November, the CD’s Kosovel Hall audiences had the pleasure of meeting the Swiss-based director Simone Rapisarda Casanova who set his semi-documentary in the Apennine Mountains. He explained to the moderator, Damijan Vinter, that the economic recession sheds new light on the post-war decades in Italy, which is especially manifested in the areas where the retreating Nazis and their collaborators killed hundreds of civilians at the end of WWII; the film shows that the Partisan tradition is still present in those parts. Rapisarda Casanova stressed that the film is a hybrid between documentary and fiction; while most of it is a documentary account, the framework of the story, featuring Pacifico, a solitary old man whom recession forces into selling some of his land, is fictitious.
Those wishing to meet the director are welcome to do so after the Monday screening taking place at Kinodvor at 17.00.
