Pedro Lopes is a full musician capable of responding real time to any stimulus as any other great improviser.

This is something very unique when you play such instrument. Don't expect him to play records and produce loops out of it, what he does is playing over it with cymbals or all sorts of gadgets in any way possible and nearly impossible like he learned it in school. This is something you never seen in the past and will hardly see in the future.
