LADO JAKŠA: JAZZY SNAPSHOTS
Lado Jakša’s photography emerges from the magical line between sharp and indistinct outlines, the blear and the blur, unusual angles and perspectives, ‘photogenic and non-photogenic’ subjects, from black-and-white and monochromatic techniques to colour pictures. His ‘snapshots’ also strive towards expressing the fluid ‘emanating’ from musicians, especially the reedists, pervading the stage and spilling also beyond, onto the audiences. In the kaleidoscope of stage lighting, this colour palette acquires expressly artistic dimensions, aspects that exist also entirely independently of concrete representations.
A versatile freelance artist, Lado Jakša is an art photographer, musician and composer. As a music student he also developed an interest in fine art, especially photography. Jakša also intertwined music and art in his Faculty of Arts graduation thesis (that earned him the prestigious Prešeren Award). This creative dialogue regularly features in his numerous national and international one-man photo exhibitions and photo multivisions that include live (original) music accompaniment.
A supporting event is being devised in cooperation with the Bežigrad Cultural Society (whose member is Lado Jakša), including multivision, dance and music.
