Serenity of Norwegian Soundscape

Morten Qvenild, piano; Roger Arntzen, bass; Pål Hausken, drums

“Less is more” could be a good introduction to the music of this Norwegian trio. Inspired by jazz tradition open to rock influences, In The Country also bring minimalism and a new way of sound reduction to their music. Please don't mistake this for Jan Garbarek’s approach, more suitable to the EST vision, but even this won't do justice to the strong identity of In The Country’s music. It's just a matter of “experience it for yourself” kind of thing.

”There is something serene about the way In the Country’s music motions through the record's pieces; like the air from room to room. And these rooms are indeed translucent, or open to one another: In the Country’s focus is on incorporating and expressing disparate influences and expressions. More important than technical virtuosity or spellbinding musical features are the effortless, tranquil sweeps that melt the pieces and refine the music into glass.” Listen to Norway, MIC (NO)
