Miloš Timotijević, 19. 11. 2014

In CD’s Kosovel Hall Toni Cahunek hosted Miloš Timotijević, the actor who portrayed educator Ilka in the heartrending Serbian-Croatian (anti-) war drama, No One’s Child. The actor first explained the absence of the director and scriptwriter, Vuk Ršumović, and main actor, Denis Murić – while the boy was alas refused a visa, Ršumović is currently very busy with his new show. Timotijević explained that the young actor had been a real hero and that his ability to identify himself with his character, as well as his persistence and concentration were incredible. Murić deservedly received the Best Actor Award at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, and in this regard Timotijević expressed the hope that “one day he might become a true acting colleague”.

The film is based on a true story about a feral boy found in the woods living with wolves in late 1980s. The scientists ascertained that the Yugoslav Kaspar Hauser had spent seven years among the wolves, and had been the fruit of a love affair between partners of Serbian and Croatian descent. The boy was given a Bosnian name and sent to Belgrade and when things started heating up before the Yugoslav War the Serbian authorities sent him back to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he most probably died during the war. The story about his discovery was published by the Politika newspaper in 1988. As the director studied the case in minute detail there are very few fictive narrative elements (predominantly the characters’ names). Timotijević said that he did not get into contact with the caregiver he played and that he also was given as Best Actor Award for No One’s Child at the Kairo Film Festival. Somewhat surprisingly, the actor saw the latest version of the film for the first time, and was amazed at the concluding scenes, because several endings had been shot. He also considered the editing to be optimal and found that it vividly conveyed the film’s anti-war dimension
