A prominent Tunisian oud player and singer, Dhafer Youssef’s evocative and intricate sound combines traditional Arabic music and jazz influences. Recruiting three stellar American musicians for his 4tet, Dhafer Youssef’s gig will feature tracks from his critically acclaimed Diwan of Beauty and Odd (2016). An elaborately embroidered tapestry of sound, Diwan combines oriental influences and the urban groove of New York. Dhafer’s genius lies in composing music that transcends social and music divisions.
