Online access to the 23rd Documentary Film Festival
The films shown within the framework of the 23rd Documentary Film Festival (FDF) will be available as an on-demand service via Cinesquare.net, and exclusively for the Slovenian area (with a Slovenian IP address). Each www.fdf.si film listing features a “BUY” button that will take you directly to the VOD platform.
The price of an access code
The price of a single film access code is EUR 6.50.
The viewing codes for short films comprising the Matjaž Ivanišin Retrospective – Che Sara, Four Architecture Films, Little Houses and Karpotrotter – are free of charge, the price of access codes for Every Good Story Is a Love Story and Playing Men is EUR 3.
Where do I buy the code to watch the film?
Browse through the programme and select films on
www.fdf.si. There is a BUY button next to each film. Log in to Cankarjev dom’s online store, add selected films to your cart, and make a payment using the selected payment method. The virtual ticket you receive has a code which will activate the selected film on
Cinesquare.net.Oh great, one code applies to all films.
No, every film has its own code. The code expires within 4 hours after being activated on
Cinesquare.net, so you can stop, rewind, or fast-forward the film, but the film can only be accessed for 4 hours.
Right, so every film has its own, non-transferrable code?
That’s correct.
And I get it by buying a ticket on CD’s website?
That's right. The code is given on the ticket.
How does Cinesquare’s video-on-demand service work?
It’s all very simple. Register on
Cinesquare.net by following the website’s instructions. After registering, open the tab Festivals and select LIFFe. The available films are arranged into sections or listed alphabetically, browse them according to your preference. Select a film, click the play button, enter your code, and watch the film from the comfort of your own private cinema.
From which devices can I watch movies?
You can watch movies on Cinesquare/Documentary Film Festival from: PC, laptop, tablet, TV with Android Box or mobile device via Web and Mobile Browser. Supported versions of the browsers include Chrome 60+, Firefox 40+, Safari 5+, IE 11+ as well as Android and iOS versions of the browsers. You can also watch movies from Chromecast.
How do I connect my phone or laptop to watch movies on TV?
You can easily do it via Wi-Fi and simply cast the screen to your TV. If your TV is not Smart, you can connect your device via HDMI cable and enjoy watching movies on a larger screen.
Can I watch the films outside Slovenia?
Unfortunately, no. The DFF films are only available as a VoD service for the Slovenian area. This is stipulated by the film copyright licences which the Documentary Film Festival or Slovenian distributors were able to obtain exclusively for Slovenia.
How to turn on the subtitles?
When a movie starts, the Slovenian subtitles are activated automatically. However, in case of non-activation, please activate any of the available subtitles by choosing the CC button at the right bottom side of the screen. The subtitles will activate when clicking the desired language.
Can a VOD film sell out?
With a view to preserving the classic cinema experience, the festival producer has decided, together with the distributors, to make available approximately the same number of online tickets for a particular film as there would have been during the live festival in venues across Slovenia. If an unlimited number of views were available for a particular DFF film, all its potential art-cinema audiences would have been exhausted. With great popular demand, a VOD film can sell out.
What about the accompanying programme?
You can follow it on the Documentary Film festival’s FB and Cankarjev dom’s YT channel.
What about the festival centre? This year it is enjoyed from the comfort of your own home.
