Kristijan Krajnčan, one of the most original Slovenian jazz musicians (and film composers), is perhaps best known for his one-man project DrummingCellist, in which he plays both drums and cello. This time, he is again (after a similar project Skriti mit from 2015) presenting a multidisciplinary dance and music performance. The concept, developed together with his brother, Žigan (author of the choreography), derives from Slovenian folklore and mythology. The choreography is based on traditional folk dances reimagined in a contemporary makeover. It is a sequel to Kristijan’s solo project, in which he explores his heritage. “In the ashes of our ancestors // We will find honey,” writes Kristijan Krajnčan. Created in collaboration with eight musicians and dancers, the project connects ancient customs with contemporary improvisation.
