Amnesty International accompanying event

A short documentary competition for young people aged 10-20 is an accompanying event in the organisation of Amnesty International Slovenia. The aim of the competition is to raise young people’s awareness about human rights as stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and to encourage contemplation of human rights violations from personal or local perspective. This year, the competition focuses on tolerance – positive examples and ideas on how to contribute to fight against discrimination and human rights violations. Young people have an opportunity to express their observations, experiences and ideas, as well as suggest solutions through short films. Winners will be awarded at the closing ceremony.

The young people are also invited to take action by writing welcome messages for refugees and migrants trying to enter Europe. The journey across the Mediterranean Sea is a dangerous one, and the EU’s increasing restrictive policies (including push-backs) are only contributing to extortion and misery of refugees and migrants. Visit Amnesty International info point where you can find additional information about the campaign and leave your welcome message.
