Why Is Documentary Film Not a News Story

Lecture

A documentary film is an artwork reflecting the filmmaker’s personal and even entirely intimate view on life that is being observed, a creative treatment of actuality. An analysis of documentary filmmaking procedures, from script and shooting to editing, discussing the various aspects of films by Jasna Krajinovič and a group of directors of her choosing.

Lecture by Petra Seliškar and Brand Ferro based on a documentary homage to the greatest Slovenian storyteller, Frane Milčinski - Ježek, My World Is Upside Down.

Caricature of Documentary Film Industry

Lecture

Most filmmakers enter the world of documentary film unexpectedly and for an unforeseeable period of time, grappling with countless restrictions and limitations. Highly variable and unpredictable, the terms and conditions of documentary filmmaking is fraught with problems that even experienced directors have a hard time overcoming.

Boris Mitić

The lecture aims at giving an overview of Boris Mitić’s professional experiences and observations over the past decade. Self-taught Serbian filmmaker, producer and strategic chess player, Mitić will spice up his lecture with amusing anecdotes and imaginative graphic representations. His latest film, a documentary about nothing (In Praise of Nothing) is being made in brainstorming partnership with twelve international TV stations, an art centre and online platform and is supported by the Serbian Film Centre, The Croatian Audiovisual Center, IDFA Bertha Fund, The Center of Contemporary Art of Geneva, and Creative Europe MEDIA for TV-production. And that’s not all: the narrator of the story about nothing will be none other than – Iggy Pop.
